Panel 1
From inside a guest room at the White Bear tavern, a slightly surprised Puccini stops walking and reaches with his left hand for an item on right side of his belt, seeing as his right hand is currently holding a bowl and spoon. The wizard asks a couple questions of Pōk (offscreen).
Puccini: "Perhaps I summarized too much? Or are you unfamiliar with compasses?"

Panel 2
The view flips to Pōk is sitting on the bed enjoying a mouthful of stew. Not waiting to swallow, the gobo is quick to answer, gesturing with a spoon towards the viewer and Puccini (offscreen).
Pōk: "<Neither! Our magic users usually say, "it just does".>"

Panel 3
Puccini brightens at Pōk's words, his left hand retrieving a green bottle with an aged wrapper.
Puccini: "Wait! One of you knows magic? This should have been mentioned earlier. Why even hedge magic could boost my cap - - "
Pōk, interrupting offscreen: "<Uhh... no...>"

Panel 2
Pōk has turned away slightly from Puccini (offscreen), with head tilt so that the gobo's wide-brimmed hat blocks any view of the face.
Pōk: "<They...>"
Pōk, softly: "<Didn't make it.>"
