Cast
The following is the character list for Gobo Gazette. These cast members are listed in order of appearance. For the gobos, it is effectively the first out of the cave to the last. Color names – specifically those used for clothing – use heraldic tinctures or other “colorful” terms. The colors might not match the tinctures exactly (or expectation), but they fit with the color theme imagined for the webcomic.
The Gobos: Bam, Pat, Fip, Zip, Hob, Nob, Nik, Nak, Tik, Tok, Wak, Pōk
The Adversaries: Green Forest Spider, Krak, Chimera, Snake Gorge Raiders, The Captain, Giant Cave Spider, Orc Wolf Riders, The Warlord
The Party of Adventurers™: The Soldier, The Warpriest, The Mage, The Knave
The Gobos
The primary focus of the comic, the twelve goblins – or gobos, as they are referred to throughout the website – are on an epic (mis)adventure. It is their very first expedition outside of the cave that they live in. Unfortunately, they are back in their hole before the next day can even dawn.
BamBam is the first gobo to leave the cave and one of the last to return - by being carried - in the first comic after an encounter with giant forest spiders. To say that Bam dislikes spiders, would be an understatement.

PatPat is one of four musically-inclined gobos, playing percussion. Pat is the group's cook, has a very sensitive pallet, and a love for good cuisine. Pat is jovial and tries to be as helpful as possible.
Comics: 89 |
FipFip is one of four musically-inclined gobos, playing strings, and is one of two siblings trained in archery. When it comes to skill with the lute and the bow, Fip is very proud. Unfortunately, Fip should stick to music.
Comics: 117 |
ZipZip is one of four musically-inclined gobos, playing wind, and is one of two siblings trained in archery. Zip is very focused and determined... and very critical of sibling Fip. Nobody seems to point out Zip's lack of musical talent.
Comics: 90 |
HobHob is one of four musically-inclined gobos, playing brass. Hob is the armored honor guard and faithful herald of Nob, announcing the gobo leader's arrival. Unfortunately for Nob, Hob's horn is very loud.
Comics: 139 |
NobNob is the defacto leader of the gobos and the impetus of their departure from the cave. Things have not gone as Nob has imagined and the gobo is trying to salvage the situation as best as possible.
Comics: 131 |
NikNik is one of the warrior gobos of the group. Although almost all of the gobos know how to fight, but Nik is better trained. Although not as honed as sibling Nak, the gobo is formidable and good at being sneaky.
Comics: 118 |
NakNak is one of the warrior gobos of the group, and is probably the best trained out of the dozen, next to Hob. Nak is calculating and precise and wishes to impart that on Nik, although the sibling is not fond of critique.
Comics: 125 |
TikTik is one of the two artisan, placed above the rank-and-file gobos but under Nob and the trained warriors. This gobo is very meticulous, preferring to plan out every detail. Unfortunately, Tik's plans often do not survive first contact with sibling Tok.
Comics: 96 |
TokTok is one of the two artisan, although gobo's tendency to use explosives for almost every situation does not place him as high as sibling Tik. Tok believes that enough force will get a square peg through a round hole.
Comics: 90 |
WakWak is... a little off. The gobo is often paired with Bam since the two have a similar tendency to hit something without a thought. Wak likes cutting wood. Therefore, Wak does not like being inside caves.
Comics: 115 |
PōkPōk (as in "poke in the eye") is the gobo sentry. You'd think this is bad idea - and often times you would be right - but this sleepy, slow gobo is quite perceptive... as long as it isn't happening on Pōk's blindside.
Comics: 120 |
The Adversaries
The goblins have encountered adversaries since they first left the cave. And it won’t be the last. With their luck, they will encounter trouble in various forms on each step of their adventures. Adversaries are listed in order of appearance.
Green Forest SpiderBaby green forest spiders are about the size of your typical large spider but can grow to about the size of a horse if it survives long enough. They spin webs but the silk is not strong enough to support large ones. Instead they wrap paralyzed prey and stash them for later. Comics: 7 |
KrakKrak is a lazy runt of a troll with a love for rotten meat. Like most trolls, he heals quickly and avoids the sunlight. He is a ruthless taskmaster that bullies others into getting things done. Krak is not the most mentally agile - it takes a while for things to set in.
Comics: 12 |
ChimeraThe chimera is a hybrid creature that is composed of parts from three animals: a lion, a goat and a snake... although with its fire breathing ability, the third is more likely to be dragon. The combination of parts vary widely from chimera to chimera. Some even have three heads! The one the gobos encounter has the front half of a leopard, the horns and hindquarters of a goat and a dragon-like tail and serpentine tongue. Comics: 9 |
Snake Gorge RaidersSo named because of the geography near their base of operations, the Snake Gorge Raiders are a rag-tag band of pirates and bandits led by a rather charismatic, if not ruthless, leader.
Comics: 16 |
The CaptainCharismatic and ruthless leader of a rag-tag band of pirates and bandits who have set up a base of operations at the mouth of the Snake Gorge River.
Comics: 19 |
Giant Cave SpiderGiant cave spiders are on a enormous scale throughout their lifetimes, hatching from giant spider eggs. They are not venomous and are communal, working together to drape networks of webbing over a large area. If large prey is trapped, several will arrive to neutralize it with multiple bites, sharing the feast afterwards. Comics: 3 |
Orc Wolf RidersA semi-nomadic community of orcs living north of the Snake Gorge River who utilize large, specially-breed wolves as mounts. They use no tack, relying on strong limbs to remain "in the saddle", guilding their wolves by leaning and tugging with a firm grip of fur and skin.
Comics: 10 |
The WarlordThe large, powerful and imposing leader of the semi-nomadic Orc Wolf Riders who live north of the Snake Gorge River. He demands results and despises weakness, punishing those who fail him too often.
