“Not Finished” I’m sure you’ve seen this. There are scenes where a superior gives out orders to subordinates without ever making eye contact. The executive is too busy signing an important document to be bothered to look up at the office manager. The galactic emperor is more interested in observing the star battle outside his throne room’s window than look at the captured hero. It’s a great tool for a dramatic reveal or reaction, or to establish this individual’s (self-believed) importance.
Hope your 2026 is the best!
Be careful out there.
In a room at Puccini's tower, Nob stands facing away from the view. The gobo's hands are behind the back and the stance is one of authoritative distance. The panel shot is wide, as Nob maintains the pose during a lengthy monologue.
Narrative Box: "After a full report."
Nob: "<Excellent work. And I can see Nak's hand in this plan. Not bad for being conceived in such short notice. Very well. I approve this course of action.>"
Panel 2
The panel's width reduces, framing Nob as the gobo brings the speech to a conclusion, punctuated by raising and making a dismissive gesture over the shoulder with the right hand.
Nob: "<That is all. We will speak again once you've captured your prey.>"
Panel 3
It is only when Whiskit (offscreen) transmits Puccini's reply that Nob looks back, lowering the hand and scowling as the conversation continues.
Puccini, transmission: "There's something else."
